Frequently Asked Questions
Real answers to the questions we get most often. If yours isn't here, just call.
Savannah and the surrounding communities β Pooler, Rincon, Tybee Island, Wilmington Island, Garden City, Port Wentworth, and the Historic District. If your address is on the edge of our area, just call and ask.
Yes. We don't have a retail walk-in shop. Every job is done at your location β driveway, parking lot, office, or wherever the lock is.
Yes. For most makes and models we can cut and program a new key from scratch, even with no working key. We will need to verify ownership (registration plus photo ID) before starting.
If your locks are healthy, rekeying is usually cheaper and faster β we change the internal pins so old keys no longer work but you keep the same hardware. If your locks are worn, sticking, or builder-grade, replacement is usually the better long-term call. We'll tell you which makes more sense for your situation.
Call us. Give the year, make, and model of your car or describe the lock and what's needed. We'll give you a clear price range before driving out. If something turns out different once we arrive, we stop and tell you before continuing.
Yes. We hold the required Georgia license and carry general liability insurance. Our technicians have photo ID β feel free to ask to see it.
In Savannah proper and the Historic District, typically 20β40 minutes during business hours. Pooler, Rincon, and the islands can take a bit longer depending on traffic and the bridge. We'll give you an honest ETA when you call.
Major credit cards, debit, cash, and contactless payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay). You'll get a receipt by email or text.
No. We deliberately do not advertise around-the-clock service we can't reliably deliver. Our hours run roughly 7 AM to 9 PM every day. Outside those hours, leave a voicemail and we'll get back to you in the morning.
For many manufacturers, yes β we can request the original key code from the VIN. You'll need to show proof of ownership. Some makes (mostly very recent or high-security models) don't release codes that way; we'll explain the alternative if so.
Yes. We install and troubleshoot common smart lock brands (August, Schlage Encode, Yale Assure, Kwikset Halo, etc.). We can also rekey the physical cylinder on most smart locks if you just want new keys without changing the unit.
Yes. We can extract the broken piece, then either cut you a new key from the remaining stub or replace the cylinder if it's damaged.
The whole point of hiring a locksmith is to avoid damage. For lockouts we use non-destructive techniques whenever possible. If a lock is damaged before we get there or is too compromised to open without drilling, we will tell you up front and discuss replacement before doing anything destructive.
Only if you can prove you're authorized to (you own the property, you're a building manager, etc.). The "Do Not Duplicate" stamp is not legally binding, but we treat it seriously and document who we duplicated for.
